Welcome to my page. I’m a cellist with over 15 years performing experience and I’ve been teaching adults and teenagers professionally for the last 5 years, both privately and as the principal cello teacher at Forsyth Brothers in Manchester. Whether taking up cello for the first time, working through graded exams, or preparing for conservatoire or university performance courses, I would be delighted to help you with your cello practice and performance.

A little about me – I’ve enjoyed a varied career that spans performance, research, and teaching. Having studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, I had the great fortune of learning from some the best, leading to performances with Manchester Camerata, BBC Symphony Orchestra, and London Symphony Orchestra to name a few. My research has focused on music performance optimisation, musicians’ wellbeing, and adult learning (andragogy) in music.

I always aim to  create an environment that's friendly and open, encouraging healthy learning. I specialise in cello lessons for adults and teenagers, having developed a research-based method which optimises independent learning on the instrument.
