After taking my first harp lessons at the music school of my hometown Maastricht at the age of 12, I knew for sure that this would become my profession.

I studied with Edward Witsenburg at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague (teaching musician diploma) and later with Erika Waardenburg at the Utrechts Conservatorium (performing musician diploma, cum laude). I also spent quite some time taking lessons with the harpist Germaine Lorenzini in Lyon, who died in 2018. 

 After my studies, I focused on playing chamber music.  

With flautist Francien Post, I have formed a regular duo since our studies at the Utrecht Conservatory. I am also harpist of the Nederlands Begeleidingsorkest and regularly play solo and with various choirs and orchestras throughout the country.  

As an educator, I have over 30 years of experience teaching harp to young and old. I worked at various music schools before founding DE HARPSCHUUR in 2007 to give my own twist to what I do best: making people enthusiastic about this fascinating instrument!
